My Seed Experience

20 May

The Seed Expo 2013

I’m back from San Antonio!  While I had a great time getting to meet up with all my colleagues, customers and vendors I always feel better once I get back to NYC.  I’m such a big city girl it’s not even funny.

So I got back on Friday, just in time for me to prepare to speak at the Seed on Saturday.  The event was beyond my expectations.  I had a great time not only visiting all the vendor tables and trying lots of food, but also getting to meet and listen to many of the other speakers.  I also finally got to try that Cinnamon Snail truck everyone raves about and OMG was it amazing.

If you missed it, I talked about how to transition to a cruelty-free wardrobe, which I had previously posted about here.  To my surprise, during my talk the room completely filled up and was standing room only (aside from the few chairs in the front row, which you see in the photos below).  Cruelty-free fashion is apparently a hot topic!

For those of you who attended the Seed and came to see me speak, it was so great to finally get to meet you in person!  I loved getting to meet everyone and hope to get to participate in similar events in the future.

Come See Me At the Seed This Weekend

15 May

TheSeedAnnouncement

If you are in the New York City area this weekend, be sure to check out the Seed Expo.  I’ll be speaking!

The Seed is a huge vegan event being held from May 18th and 19th here in NYC at 82 Mercer. There will be lots of delicious vegan food, products, services, world-renowned speakers, films, and more. Best part about the Seed is it’s designed around a more “veg-curious” crowd, meaning if you are not currently vegan but are interested in the lifestyle, it’s a great place to come on out and see what it’s all about.

To my surprise, the organizers of the event have invited me to be a featured speaker! I’m on at 4:15 on Saturday, and will be talking about how to successfully transition to a cruelty-free wardrobe.

Will you be attending the Seed? If so I’d love to meet you so let me know!

TheSeedAnnouncement

I am so excited to finally get to announce this!

I’m not exactly sure which date I’ll be speaking just yet, but will be sure to let everyone know once it’s been announced.  I’ll be talking about how to best represent the vegan cause through what you wear and how to transition your wardrobe to a cruelty-free one.

I’m honored to be included with a huge variety of renowned speakers in the vegan community, all of which you can see here.  I had a near freak out seeing my name directly next to Brendan Brazier.  His Thrive Sports Nutrition Diet and Vega Sport Performance Protein is keeping me on track with my Crossfit goals so he’s been a huge inspiration for me!

Will you be attending the Seed?  If so I’d love to meet you so let me know!

Featured / Copious Crush

Last week, online social marketplace Copious featured me as their “Copious Crush”!

If you haven’t stopped by Copious yet, it’s crazy cool. You can post things you want to sell ranging from clothing, accessories, housewares, art, etc. and see what your friends are buying and selling as well.  It’s a social marketplace. I had mentioned them in my Transitioning to a Cruelty Free Wardrobe post as being a great way to rid your wardrobe of leather and wool and replace it with even better vegan stuff.

You can check out the interview, along with my favorite vegan friendly picks currently on Copious by clicking here.

What an insane week. Between the holiday weekend, and then IFBCon, LuckyFABB, and the craziness of both fashion week and a full work schedule I totally forgot to mention I was featured last week on XOJane!  You can check out the full feature here.

I have an insane amount of photos to process from all the events I’ve attended this week.  Stay tuned for a detailed recap early next week.

IFB / Links a La Mode

23 Aug

IFB chose my How to Pack for a Trip post as one of the Links à La Mode picks for the week of August 23rd!  I’m honored to have two of my posts chosen within a month.

For any fashion bloggers attending IFBCon or LuckyFABB, these tips are great for when you’re packing for your trip to NYC.  Congrats to all the other bloggers and I look forward to hopefully meeting you all at IFBCon.

Size Matters

Edited by: Emily of Sugar & Spice

Well, IFB have certainly started something: a debate on the internetz about size and how it matters – or not – in blogging and, more importantly, whether it should matter. This week’s post reflect this discussion and put forward some compelling and eloquently written arguments. Make sure to read and digest these posts and hopefully come back next week with your own responses and contributions? Here in the UK it’s nearly the last Bank Holiday weekend of the summer which can only mean one thing: Autumn’s around the corner – and the IFB Conference. Clearly a lot of this week’s bloggers have next season on their mind as they have been writing about their favourite trends for the new season. And if you’re attending the IFBCon next month, make sure to check out the packing guides below:

IFB / Links a La Mode

9 Aug

I so excited to announce my Transitioning to a Cruelty Free Wardrobe (originally posted here, cross posted to here later), has been featured on Independent Fashion Bloggers Links a La Mode for the week of August 8th!  I’m beyond stoked about this because IFB members for the most part are not vegan (and not to mention very fond of their designer goods), so to have this specific piece make the list totally made my day!

You can catch my link, along with the other chosen links for the week below.

All Abroad

Edited By Taylor Davies

This weeks links come to you from across the globe! Whether it’s street style at the Olympics in London or personal style on the island of Sicily, or a Japanese print on a sweet summer dress- there’s so much to love from around the world.

Freshly Pressed #3

I’m honored and totally surprised to have Brooklyn Bliss chosen for WordPress’ Freshly Pressed  for a third time!  I kind of don’t know what to say, because I was never expecting to be chosen twice never mind three times.

If you are new to my site, here’s a recap of the last two times.  My first time was for a post at the time I thought was pretty silly raving about my Kindle.  Second time was about a year ago for one of my outfit posts.

Thanks again to WordPress for choosing me for this honor again, as well as to everyone who commented, liked, and started following Brooklyn Bliss after checking out the High Line Extension post.

Vegansaurus Feature

I’m so excited to have our veg Thanksliving feast featured on my favorite vegan blog, Vegansaurus!  There are two things in this world I love to death, one is veganism and the other is dinosaurs (yes, I’m a child at heart) so of course their website would be my most favorite site ever.  It also helps that the writers are just straight up hilarious.

Every Thanksgiving they do a roundup of some of the most delicious looking vegan dishes readers served over their holiday.  Be sure to check it out, but not if you’re hungry because that’s just torture.
