Le Pain Quotidien

A non-vegan friend of mine had mentioned a few weeks ago that last time she was in a Le Pain Quitoden, they had a ton of vegan options. I used to frequent the chain a bit while marathon training in Central Park several years ago, and didn’t remember them having a ton of options so hearing this surprised me.

This past Saturday prior to heading over to the NYC Vegetarian Food Festival, Jim and I met up with some of his relatives in town visiting at one of their locations mid-town, and I was blown away by all their options! Damn vegans, we’ve come a long way!Β  If you’re a vegan living in NYC, be sure to stop in, they’re trying to win our business and doing a really great job!

I LOVE that place! Even as a non vegan, I’ve had some of their vegan stuff and it rocked my socks! They have a location thats literally around the corner from me, so I end up going a lot. πŸ™‚

I’m totally jealous and wish we had one by us in Brooklyn. I was amazed at how many options they had! And I didn’t even mention they had gluten free options as well! Totally in love with that place.

I’ve been to a few of them a few times – I had no idea they had vegan stuff until my boyfriend told me. However, right after that was when someone found a dead mouse in one of their salads and my good friend refuses to ever go there again and I can’t seem to shake the sentiment. I hope I get over it!

A dead mouse in a salad? That’s not very vegan friendly! Just kidding. I worked in restaurants for years and have come across lots of weird stuff with salads, but it’s usually bugs. The mouse is a new one I’ve never heard. Regardless if you can get past that story, check them out again the food I had was delicious and mouse free!

There’s a lot of great places to try in Williamsburg, Brooklyn which is a short train ride from Union Square. In particular check out Foodswings, it’s amazing!
