Funday

Puppy Bomb

{What I’m Wearing: Shirt: H&M (thrifted); Moto Leggings: My Bajee Collection}

After taking last week off from blogging and other social engagements, I seem to have finally caught back up and gained control of my life again.  I re-prioritized and set goals for myself both professionally and personally for the next three months, and also over the weekend finally took care of a bunch of household chores I’ve been putting off.  It feels so amazing to check to-do’s off my list!

I’ve decided for the next few months I’m going to try a new strategy to my weekends.  I’m hoping to keep one day, usually a Saturday specifically to do chores and knock off a few tasks to complete long-term projects.    The other day, most likely Sunday, will be completely free to either relax or do something fun!  That way I’m still getting my much-needed downtime without sacrificing any household productivity.

So after getting all my Saturday to-do’s accomplished, I took to the “corner” (what I refer to the corner chaise of my couch) to sit down and read my Kindle.  One of my three-month goals is to have read three books.  I couldn’t get more than a page in without Portia barging in on me, wanting to play fetch or cuddle!

Needless to say, cuddling with Portia and a Real Housewives of New York City marathon wound up taking priority over reading.  But that’s what my Sunday “Funday” is for, whatever I feel like doing at that moment.

How did you spend your weekend?

Summer Days

Summer Days
{Maxi Dress: H&M (old); Sandals: Melissa; Bag: Cornelia Guest (Bloomingdales); Sunglasses: Vintage (found at Brooklyn Flea); Adorable Yorkiepoo: Adopted!}

This heat and humidity here in NYC this summer has been absolutely brutal. I feel like I’ve been wearing my hair up like this all the time because otherwise I’m sporting a giant frizzy fro. Poor Portia is dying on walks lately between the extreme heat on the sidewalks and her black fur retaining all the heat.

Regardless, I think we both still look pretty fab, despite melting!

On a quick shopping note, I very recently invested in this Cornelia Guest handbag and I’m so glad I did! It’s perfect for my every day bag. It’s just the right size, and looks great with both professional attire as well as on weekends. It’s also really, really well made. It should last me a while. I’m now a huge fan of the brand and can’t wait to see what new designs she comes up with.

Bark Park

Bark Park 11

This past Sunday both Jim and I had giant to-do lists of stuff to take care of prior to the Thanksgiving holiday. So we woke up early, got our caffeine fix, and got to work.

By around 2 pm, it was so nice out it was a shame to spend all our time inside, so we decided to take a break and take Portia for a quick trip to the bark park (i.e. dog run). Portia got to run her miniature heart out in the dog  run playing fetch with Jim, and I had fun attempting to photograph her mid-air. She’s fast!

Once Portia was bored with the dog run, we took a walk around the park, letting Portia play in the leaves.  The piles of leaves were so big she had a hard time maneuvering in them and it was adorable watching her hop around.  You could tell she was having the best time.

She was exhausted when we got home, which worked out great for us since we were able to get everything else done on our to-do list without her bugging us with her cuteness.

These photos remind me of how much I love fall. I don’t want it to end. While I’m super excited for Thanksgiving (my favorite holiday), it bums me out once December rolls around, so does the snow. Yuck.

Lazy Sunday

16 Mar

{Pleather Jacket: Target; Cascade Cardigan: Alloy; Pill Tee-Shirt (not shown): Brooklyn Flea; Sneakers: Converse; Dog Carrier: Urban Link via Amazon; Sunglasses: Brooklyn Flea}

Sunday was my husband’s birthday. We had actually celebrated the night prior at Matt Torrey’s with some friends and needless to say got home pretty late. We woke up a little hung over and instead of staying at home all day whining about not feeling well, we instead got dressed and got out of the house. We had breakfast at a local diner we just discovered, and then brought Portia into the city with us to go to the Apple Store in an unfruitful attempt to purchase a set of iPad 2’s.

All in all we had a great walk about the city and Brooklyn and then collapsed at home and lounged the rest of the day around the apartment. I’d consider it the best lazy weekend day I’ve had in a long time.
