I’m finally back in New York City after a jam-packed week last week. I spent Wednesday through Friday on a business trip in Denver, where I had meetings and played golf (yuck). On Friday, instead of coming straight home I decided to make a stop in Chicago to visit my friends Rebecca (aka Bex) and Vik, who I hadn’t seen in almost four years. We had the best time catching up over cocktails, shopping, and wandering the various neighborhoods of the city.

I have close to 200 photos I’m currently editing from this weekend trip, which I’ll share on Friday. Thanks to Bex for grabbing these quick shots of me, I absolutely loved this mural and it was the perfect place to stop and take a few photos.

Obsessed

Neon

{Sandals: Melissa; Tee, Tank and Scarf: American Apparel}

I think I may have officially moved away from my obsession with leopard and full on into a neon problem. Specifically highlighter yellow. I can’t stop collecting items that are that color.

Now as long as I don’t combine neon with leopard…

This past Saturday I crossed two very overdue tasks off my to-do list. First was take my Mom out for Mother’s Day (being she was away on vacation over the actual holiday). Second was to finally see the Hunger Games movie, preferably while still playing in theaters.

Coincidentally my Mom wanted to see the movie as well, so I took her for a belated Mother’s Day movie screening and lunch. By the time she was back from vacation and me back from work trips, the only theater still playing it was one out on Long Island I used to frequent while I was in High School (I grew up out there). Worked out perfect since my Mom didn’t need to travel far to meet me.

This is what I wore. I wanted to be comfy in the theater and you can’t get more comfy than a pair of palazzos. It’s the perfect alternative to leggings when it’s hot out. I received a lot of compliments on them while out and about, which almost made up for me being a total spaz and tripping on them several times throughout the day.

Skippin’ Like a Record

Day Seventeen 1- Display
{Short Sleeved Cardigan: Dolce and Gabbana (thrifted); Tank: Calvin Klein (Costco); Skirt: Ecoterre (gift from husband); Shoes: Payless; Cuff: H&M}

So I’m skipping  over day sixteen straight to day seventeen. Why? Because I never got any photos of day sixteen. On day sixteen I had the opportunity to check out Comedy Central‘s Comedy in the Park for Summer Stage, and in the time frame I expected to take my pictures, I was instead stuck in traffic for one and a half hours! It usually only takes me about 20 minutes to get home from work. I was PISSED.  Then once I got home I had another 20 minute subway ride to Central Park.  It was a LONG evening.

While I did get lots of pictures at the event (a post is soon to come), I didn’t get any photos of my outfit. So I’ll attempt to recreate and photograph it hopefully sometime this weekend and get a post up.

In the meantime, enjoy my uneventful day seventeen photo. On day seventeen if memory serves me correctly I promptly went home and changed into my neon pink Peta sweatpants after taking these photos.

This is what I wore Thursday of last week.  My husband and I attended a fundraiser that evening to benefit the Woodstock Animal Sanctuary.  It was held on a rooftop here in Williamsburg, and there was amazing vegan hor d’oeuvres, cocktails and entertainment.  We had heard about the event last-minute the night before, and after hearing it was going to be held so close to home we had to swing by and check it out.  All the proceeds are going to go towards repairs and improvements for the sanctuary’s duck pond and pig barn.  I have yet to actually visit the sanctuary myself, but being it’s only a two-hour drive north of the city I’m making it a goal of mine to get there before the end of the summer.

All in all we had a fantastic time and I had to opportunity to meet and network with more vegans from the area, which is always fun.

I had attempted to take more photos at the event, but again we had gray, crappy weather and none of my images came out well.  Here’s hoping the weather breaks sooner rather than later!

Op-Art

11 Aug

Last thursday I found myself with some time to kill so I ducked into Forever 21 for a quick sec to see what they had.  That store gives me a headache there’s so much stuff in it.  Amongst the racks and racks of stuff this op-artish top jumped out at me.  I’ve really been drawn to black and white patterns lately and even without trying it on I knew it would flatter me being its drawn it at the waist.  Considering that and looking at the $15 price tag, I figured I’d be silly not to get it.  Glad I did, I lurves it!

What I’m Wearing:

Tank Blouse: Forever 21
Jeggings: Hue (purchased at Bloomingdale’s)
Clogs: Qupid
Belt: Gift
Earrings: Junk (in Williamsburg)
Sunglasses: Love Brigade
