Bare Minimum

21 Aug

Lazy Weekend
{Wearing: Tee: Old Navy; Jeans: Mavi; Sandals: Melissa}

This past weekend I didn’t want to do much of anything aside from sit on the couch and stuff my face.  Jim and I went to see a Jane’s Addiction concert on Friday, and I did somehow manage to try out a Crossfit class on Saturday (which I’m still sore from!).  That was the extent of my physical activity. The rest of the weekend was spent me on the couch watching Netflix.  Next weekend I won’t have this luxury with the Color Run being on Saturday.

Sunday the most I did was walk the dog, and this is what I wore to do it.  Basic tee-shirt, jeans, sandals.  Bare minimum needed to look presentable.

How was your weekend?

Brooklyn Tribal

Brooklyn Tribal{Maxi Dress: Old Navy; Sandals: Melissa; Belt: H&M}

I bought this Old Navy dress back in July specifically for my Boston trip and I love it.  I’ve been wearing it to death this summer (that along with those neon sandals I’m sure everyone is already sick of seeing!).  I’m pretty picky with what patterns I wear.  I absolutely hate florals.  So this tribal print was a great, fresh addition to my wardrobe.

What new patterns have you been sporting this summer?

Summer Days

Summer Days
{Maxi Dress: H&M (old); Sandals: Melissa; Bag: Cornelia Guest (Bloomingdales); Sunglasses: Vintage (found at Brooklyn Flea); Adorable Yorkiepoo: Adopted!}

This heat and humidity here in NYC this summer has been absolutely brutal. I feel like I’ve been wearing my hair up like this all the time because otherwise I’m sporting a giant frizzy fro. Poor Portia is dying on walks lately between the extreme heat on the sidewalks and her black fur retaining all the heat.

Regardless, I think we both still look pretty fab, despite melting!

On a quick shopping note, I very recently invested in this Cornelia Guest handbag and I’m so glad I did! It’s perfect for my every day bag. It’s just the right size, and looks great with both professional attire as well as on weekends. It’s also really, really well made. It should last me a while. I’m now a huge fan of the brand and can’t wait to see what new designs she comes up with.

Obsessed

Neon

{Sandals: Melissa; Tee, Tank and Scarf: American Apparel}

I think I may have officially moved away from my obsession with leopard and full on into a neon problem. Specifically highlighter yellow. I can’t stop collecting items that are that color.

Now as long as I don’t combine neon with leopard…

Road Trip

Wearing {Fedora: Target; Tank: Calvin Klein; Skirt: Buffalo Exchange; Sandals: Melissa; Tote: Gap; Sunglasses: Vintage via Brooklyn Flea}

Jim and I this past Sunday took a quick road trip to Philly to visit his family and go to a birthday party.  Philly is only a two hour car drive from Brooklyn, so it’s a great same day road trip destination.

On our way back instead of going the more direct, highway route we took a detour and made a quick stop at the Old City District.  Jim and I love all things old and historical so we took a quick hour break to stretch our legs, walk around and check out the sites.  He also got to reminisce a bit being he grew up in the area.

This alley proved to be the perfect backdrop for a few quick outfit shots.  Jim has the patience of a saint and eye of a professional photographer.  He totally called that the lighting was perfect and it was.

Stay tuned tomorrow for some of my favorite shots of the amazing, historical architecture we saw during our walk.

{Tank: Calvin Klein; Pants: Crossroads Trading Co.; Sandals: Alloy (old); Sunglasses: Canal Street Vendor}

This past Saturday I crossed two very overdue tasks off my to-do list. First was take my Mom out for Mother’s Day (being she was away on vacation over the actual holiday). Second was to finally see the Hunger Games movie, preferably while still playing in theaters.

Coincidentally my Mom wanted to see the movie as well, so I took her for a belated Mother’s Day movie screening and lunch. By the time she was back from vacation and me back from work trips, the only theater still playing it was one out on Long Island I used to frequent while I was in High School (I grew up out there). Worked out perfect since my Mom didn’t need to travel far to meet me.

This is what I wore. I wanted to be comfy in the theater and you can’t get more comfy than a pair of palazzos. It’s the perfect alternative to leggings when it’s hot out. I received a lot of compliments on them while out and about, which almost made up for me being a total spaz and tripping on them several times throughout the day.

Last weekend Jim and I on Sunday spent the entire day outdoors. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and it would have been a crime not to take advantage of it. We took Portia to the dog park for a bit, and then walked over to the Bedford Avenue section of Williamsburg to check out some shops and grab dinner. We later than evening went to see a comedy act at the Knitting Factory.

Being it was warm out, I decided to try out my new mullet hem black dress I scored at Crossroads a few weeks back. It’s a great update to my wardrobe being it plays on a trend as well as is versatile. I see myself wearing it a lot this summer and even into the fall.

Vegan Versions / DVF Opal Wedges

30 Mar

Today’s vegan versions is courtesy of the Budget Babe.  I was so happy she posted about these because I was looking to upgrade my wedges to an all black pair this spring, and these were perfect for me.

I love how chunky and edgy the DVF wedges are.  They were exactly what I was looking for.  The Target Mossimo ones are almost an exact match!  I already ordered and got mine and have been wearing them non-stop in this beautiful, early spring weather we’ve been experiencing the past week and a half in NYC.

And here you have it, my 30th and final post of my summer 30 for 30 wardrobe challenge.  I’m so happy I finally completed it and have it on the site.  It’s funny though that as I write this, I’m wearing a sweater and boots now that it’s fall and here I am in this photo wearing shorts and sandals.  Next time I have to not procrastinate and get these photos up and on the site within a few days of taking the photos.  I have no excuse nowadays now that I have an iPad and it’s totes easy.  That or make it a goal to finish the challenge within the allotted season.

Stay tuned tomorrow for a recap post including photos and links to all thirty outfits.
