{Tank: Calvin Klein; Pants: Crossroads Trading Co.; Sandals: Alloy (old); Sunglasses: Canal Street Vendor}

This past Saturday I crossed two very overdue tasks off my to-do list. First was take my Mom out for Mother’s Day (being she was away on vacation over the actual holiday). Second was to finally see the Hunger Games movie, preferably while still playing in theaters.

Coincidentally my Mom wanted to see the movie as well, so I took her for a belated Mother’s Day movie screening and lunch. By the time she was back from vacation and me back from work trips, the only theater still playing it was one out on Long Island I used to frequent while I was in High School (I grew up out there). Worked out perfect since my Mom didn’t need to travel far to meet me.

This is what I wore. I wanted to be comfy in the theater and you can’t get more comfy than a pair of palazzos. It’s the perfect alternative to leggings when it’s hot out. I received a lot of compliments on them while out and about, which almost made up for me being a total spaz and tripping on them several times throughout the day.

Pinkadots

Day 23 1- Display
{Blazer: Calvin Klein (thrifted); Tee: dollar store find; Shorts: Market Publique; Wedges: Dolce Vita; Cuff: H&M}

I’ve been sitting here for the past five minutes trying to think about what to write for this post.  Even worse the best title I could come up with for the post is Pinkadots.  Hmmmm.

Not much happened on day 23.  It rained.  After taking these pictures I went to the gym and used the stepmill (which by the way totally sucks but does the job).  Thrilling.

Only seven more of these 30 for 30 challenge posts to go!

Skippin’ Like a Record

Day Seventeen 1- Display
{Short Sleeved Cardigan: Dolce and Gabbana (thrifted); Tank: Calvin Klein (Costco); Skirt: Ecoterre (gift from husband); Shoes: Payless; Cuff: H&M}

So I’m skipping  over day sixteen straight to day seventeen. Why? Because I never got any photos of day sixteen. On day sixteen I had the opportunity to check out Comedy Central‘s Comedy in the Park for Summer Stage, and in the time frame I expected to take my pictures, I was instead stuck in traffic for one and a half hours! It usually only takes me about 20 minutes to get home from work. I was PISSED.  Then once I got home I had another 20 minute subway ride to Central Park.  It was a LONG evening.

While I did get lots of pictures at the event (a post is soon to come), I didn’t get any photos of my outfit. So I’ll attempt to recreate and photograph it hopefully sometime this weekend and get a post up.

In the meantime, enjoy my uneventful day seventeen photo. On day seventeen if memory serves me correctly I promptly went home and changed into my neon pink Peta sweatpants after taking these photos.

Day Fourteen 1- Display
{Blazer: Calvin Klein (thrifted); Striped Dress (worn as tank top): H&M; Pants: Elle Tahari; Platforms: Cynthia Rowley (thrifted)}

I actually wore this last Monday. For the life of me I can’t remember what the hell I did last Monday.  Did I have a management meeting that day?  I’m so far behind on my posting it’s not funny.  I’ve gotta get with the times.

Are you participating in the 30 for 30?  If so are you having a tough time getting your photos up in a timely manner as well?

I Only Dance If There’s a Pole

Day Twelve 1-Display
{Jumpsuit: Target; Blazer: Calvin Klein (thrifted); Heels: Payless; Earrings: Forever21; Cuff: H&M}

This past Saturday, I attended my Uncle’s 65th birthday party all the way out east on Long Island. The event was a surprise party, so my Aunt had instructed everyone to wear “wedding attire” since my Uncle had thought he was attending a friends daughter’s wedding. I’m really glad I had decided to include my convertible 70’s style jumpsuit in my 30 for 30 challenge since it worked perfectly for this event.

The party was one to remember. My family likes to go all out when it comes to parties. There was a DJ, beautiful centerpieces, lots of delicious food and plenty of drinks.

Day Twelve 4

Oh, and there were cigar rollers! I love me a good cigar, I’m totally weird that way.

Day Twelve 5

My absolute, favorite part of the evening was getting to see my Great Aunt. She back a few years ago had moved to Arizona, and it’s been really difficult for her to get back to New to visit us or for us to go and visit her. My Dad managed to get her to NY as a surprise for my Uncle. She’s totally one of a kind. She’s in her 80’s, hilarious and has a horrendous potty mouth. To give you an idea, I asked her if she wanted to dance with me and she told me “I only dance if there is a pole involved!”. I was dying! I am beyond happy I got to see her!

Day Seven 1- Display
{Blazer: Calvin Klein (thrifted); Tee: dollar store find; Skirt: Ecoture (gift from husband); Platforms: Cynthia Rowley (thrifted); Sunglasses: Husband’s (from a street fair); Cuff: H&M}

I’ve been learning a lot recently about taking my own outfit photos. My hubby will occasionally help out with taking my pictures but I always think I look kind of awkward when he takes them. Strange thing is I feel much more natural posing and taking photos on a tripod with a wireless release, which probably looks weirder to folks passing by in my busy neighborhood than my husband taking photos of me.

I went to art school and photography was one of my favorite classes, and I knew my way around a DSLR pretty well. Now that I finally have a new digital one, it’s kind of like riding a bike. I’m getting used to it again.  Yesterday, I originally was kinda meh about this outfit, but after seeing how my photos were coming out totally fell in love with the outfit.  I thought “Hells yeah!  I have tons of great photos today!” while looking at the screen on my camera reviewing the images I shot while outside during the shoot.  I was way pumped up about it.

Fast forward to editing my photos later on in the evening, and I learn that all of my photos are super blurry.  Only these two were remotely clear.  So much for being a pro photog.  I forgot the most important thing when taking self portraits… set the auto-focus!  That and never trust the viewfinder screen without first zooming in to check that it’s crystal clear.  Dur!  Lesson learned.

Day Seven 2

Pink and Red

20 Jun

Day Four Display- 1

{Blazer: Calvin Klein (thrifted); Shirt: H&M (my husband’s); Jeans: Mavi; Flats: Steve Madden (thrifted); Cuff: H&M}

I don’t know why but every time it’s rainy and gray out I want to wear this blazer.  I also was not about wearing heels either, and the only flats I really chose as part of this challenge were my red ones.  Who says pink and red clash?  I think it looks pretty rad.
