Vegan Versions / Tough Ankle Boots

7 Sep

This fall I’m really wanting some tough looking ankle boots to rock on the weekends. I found the picture above on Pintrest, and have been obsessed ever since.

I have a few requirements for my boots though. Obviously, they must be vegan. I’m also looking for something that is either a flat boot (maybe a chelsea?), or with more of a walkable heel than what is shown above. Something a bit chunkier. I have to be able to wear these babies for a full day of doing stuff in Manhattan with no pain, otherwise I get the “why do you always choose such inappropriate footwear” comment from my hubby.

Below are some of my faves, with the top pair being my #1 choice. What do you guys think?”

Vegan Versions / Jeffrey Campbell Lita Boots

23 Mar

I may be a bit behind the times here, but recently I can not stop thinking about Jeffrey Campbell’s Lita Boots.  I see them everywhere.  All over the style blogs, all over the streets of NYC.  I love everything about them.  They’re chunky, sturdy, combat boot like and just all in all cool looking.

One thing the Lita boots are not is vegan.  So I’ve been looking online everywhere to try to find a similar pair not made of leather.  Today I happened across these beauties and I’m beside myself.

These babies are called the “Lola” boot and they’re made by a company in Indonesia called June and Julia.  They’re handmade to order and look really similar to the Lita boots.  Oh, did I mention they’re only $40 (USD)?

I think I need to place an order.

Not Vegan / Vegan

22 Aug

I love Lucky Magazine. I’ve been getting it for years, and I love how in one easy publication I can learn all the new upcoming trends and get tons of shopping ideas. I always use the little sticky “YES” tabs included in the front of the magazine and dog ear practically the whole freaking thing.

Unfortunately, most of the stuff I like is way out of my budget, plus it’s not vegan. So as part of my usual shopping process, I love to attempt to find similar, less expensive (and vegan) options online. Here’s a snapshot of several items I’ve been searching for similar items for, and what I’ve found.

  1. Pour La Victoire Distressed Lambskin “Presley” Hobo Bag, $495. “Nissa” bag, available from Alloy, $14.99 (clearance item, hell yeah!)
  2. Cynthia Vincent “Devi-S” suede over the knee boots, $425. “Marlene” over the knee/ fold over cuff boot, available from Alloy, $46.90 (I’ll be getting these in black).
  3. Guiseppe Zanotti Suede Booties, $695. Qupid Nelson 03 Velvet Hidden Platform Bootie, $19.80
  4. Prada St. Coco Platform Pumps, $650. Spicy Snake Platform Pump, $22.00
