Paul Labrecque Hair Care / Review and Giveaway- Closed

Paul Labrecque 1

The folks over at Paul Labrecque had contacted me a while back to review some of their products. I didn’t feel right trying any products that weren’t vegan, but after a few emails back and forth confirming their curly hair care products were in fact vegan (they are) we were good to go. A few days later I received a package in the mail containing their curly shampoo, conditioner, styling cream gel and finishing spray (not pictured).

I have to be honest. I totally put off trying these products out for a while. Main reason being I was really happy with the products I was currently using on my hair. Everything I use is normally vegan, organic and chemical free. So I was slightly terrified to put something else in my hair. Why would I? I liked my current stuff.

Well long story short I’m really sorry I waited so long to try them out. Immediately after rinsing out the shampoo, I my hair felt softer. The conditioning cream is rich and thick, and really moisturized my parched locks. The cream gel was also a surprise, it gives fantastic hold with no “crunch” (if you’re a curly girl I know you know what I mean). The finishing spray makes my locks shiny and not greasy, and keeps them frizz free. I’ve also found the spray has helped perk up my curls the following day, so I can now go a day or two between washes.

The absolute nicest surprise has been that my curls have been 100% frizz free in the humid, NYC summer weather. I didn’t think that was possible!

I blowdry my hair with a flat brush after i put frizzease and nexxus leave in conditioner. I curl the ends under with a big round brush. then when its dry i blast it with a shot of cold air to lock in the style then run some bedhead afterparty smoothing creme through it.

  2. Mariel Dumas July 22, 2011 at 11:20 am #

I put baby powder on my scalp before going to sleep to absorb oil.

Right now I’m using Super Skinny by Paul Mitchell, but it’s really heavy on my hair sometimes…would like to try something else.

I use Ouidad gel and some sea salt texturizing spray, it’s almost great but then, it’s not.

  5. susan July 22, 2011 at 8:01 pm #

i use aveda leave in conditioner and only run my fingers through it…no combs or brushes

  6. Lissan July 22, 2011 at 8:26 pm #

I use leave in conditioner on soaking wet hair. Then I scrunch in gel ( La Looks Curl Gel or Got 2 Be Spiked) followed by Loreal Out of Bed. I let my hair air dry.

  9. Lydia G. July 22, 2011 at 11:40 pm #

Moisture! Conditioning in the shower and right after I get out. I comb it through my hair both times to make sure it is evenly distributed.

  10. Angela July 23, 2011 at 7:20 am #

Every other day I skip the shampoo and just use conditioner. And always use cold water. Brrrr.

  11. Sara P. July 23, 2011 at 11:40 am #

Right now I am not fighting the frizz very well… When I want to spend the time I use a flat iron.

I use Frizzease to “attempt” to fight frizz but living at the beach in SC I’m not sure anything really works!

  13. Alex P. July 23, 2011 at 2:01 pm #

I rub a dollop of olive oil in my hands and then massage it through the rest of my hair. I’ve found that it also helps to use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner!

  14. Sam July 23, 2011 at 2:25 pm #

I wash it every other day but condition it daily, never brush it, and use Lush R&B moisturizing cream.

  15. Rachel July 23, 2011 at 2:46 pm #

I use an anti-frizz serum and air dry. I also regularly contemplate just cutting it all off.

I change my haircare products fairly often because I haven’t found something that I love. I’m currently using Neutrogena Triple Moisture shampoo and deep recovery hair mask. I always air dry and the one product I do love is Frizz Ease Dream Curls spray- no crunchy curls!

  27. miryfaye July 24, 2011 at 7:00 pm #

I was my hair 2-3 times a week only blow drying my bangs, the rest I let air dry. I use the Brazilian Blow out conditioner only, I’ve never gotten the full treatment because I like my curl, just not the frizz. It does a pretty good job of de-frizzing the hair but if I have to use additional products I use a thermal protector or leave-in conditioner. I’m always open to trying new things, always in search of that miracle product!

  38. Tonya Dean July 28, 2011 at 6:31 am #

I like to put lotion on my hands and then run them over my hair. Really helps get rid of those flyaways.
